Rally: Save Tanglefoot walking track from logging

The forest surrounding the renowned Tanglefoot walking track in Toolangi is scheduled for logging.

On April 9 at 2pm we will hold a peaceful rally at the Tanglefoot picnic area to stand up for the places that we love, and say no to 8 more years of native forest logging!

The Victorian government wants to drag out native forest logging until 2030. This industry does not make money, it is operating at a taxpayer-funded loss.

Keeping VicForests on life support for 8 more years will cost Victoria just under $200 million dollars.

It will cost our climate.

It will cost the lives of threatened species.

It will cost our water supplies.

It will cost Victorians some of our most beloved places.

Unless we make our voices heard this iconic and significant Tanglefoot forest in Toolangi will be smashed to feed the paper mill (yep that’s right, 86% of native forests logged in Victoria are pulped or chipped).

The Great Tree Project’s epic and beautiful 80m eco-dyed Mountain Ash will be unveiled at the rally.

Nature Lovers' Trivia

Would you like to support KFF in protecting Greater Glider habitat? Do you want to learn more about fungi in our forests? Do you usually hate trivia because it’s all about pop culture or sport and fails to cater to your interest in plant morphology, scats, bats and the migratory patterns of shore birds?

Well do we have the online event for you! We invite you to join us on the evening of Friday October 22nd for “Nature Lovers’ Trivia”. We are thrilled to be joined by renowned ecologist and fungi expert Alison Pouliot, who will be presenting a short and action packed talk between trivia rounds!

Register here.

You can make your own team of 2 - 10 people, or we will add you to one. If you would like to make your own team please email us a list of names. Everyone on your team must register via the above link.

Entry is by donation and all proceeds will go straight into KFFs surveying efforts. Some of you may have come along to spotlighting nights in the Kinglake forest area known by VicForests as “Wallaces”. Eagleglen Track runs through this precious area of old forest that is beloved by bushwalkers and chock full of Greater Gliders.

KFF needs to engage a professional surveyor to assess the habitat trees in several forest areas including “Wallaces”. This is a pricey but urgent exercise, as logging could begin there any day.

These Zones are located in Powelltown ( 2 zones ) Taggerty, Buxton, Mt Disappointment, Kinglake, and Toolangi.

The case will be heard by The Honourable Justice Ginnane in the Supreme Court from Monday February 8. Barrister Johnathan Korman will represent Kinglake Friends of the Forest. The trial will commence at 10.30am, Monday 8 February 2021 and continue on 10-12 February 2021.
